Dedicated to the memory of Ann Purcell - a loving wife, mother, sister and friend

Ann Purcell (nee Commins)

20.04.1956 - 08.10.21

This site is a tribute to Ann Purcell (nee Commins), who was born in Co.Mayo, Ireland on April 20, 1956.

On Friday 8 October 2021, our darling Mumma died after a short illness with a rare form of cancer. She left this world gracefully and peacefully at St Luke’s Hospice with Aisling by her side. The only comfort her family take from this is that her suffering is now over. Our beautiful angel sent to us from heaven above has returned home — we are so lucky that she was ours.

St Lukes held a special place in Ann’s heart, she volunteered there for nine years right up until her diagnosis and they cared for both Ann and her sister Mamie in their final days. Ann is much loved and will always be remembered.

20.04.1956-08.10.21 Six months today since our beautiful Mumma left this world ❤️ That woman is a success . . Who lives life to the fullest; who has discovered and shared the strengths and talents that are uniquely her own; who puts her best into each task and leaves each situaiton better than she found it; who seeks and finds that which is beautiful in all people . . and all thing; whose heart if full of love and warm with compassion; who has found joy in living and peace within herself.

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was. The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again. Thinking of Ann today and everyday. She loved this time of year. Xx
